Circa 1831-1838, Regency Period of the Georgian Era into the early Victorian Era.

Bottom/base of platter is stamped with CANOVA maker's mark & also stamped "ROCK WARE". Though the “Canova” label was also used by Thomas Mayer, this plate most probably has been produced by Goodwins & Harris which is another earthenware manufacturer from the district Staffordshire, famous for its potteries.

This platter is believed to have been produced between 1831–1838. A platter with nearly the same Canova Pattern can be found in the Brooklyn Museum which has been manufactured by Goodwins & Harris.

Beautifully detailed and decorated. The outer border is comprised of floral sprays and scenic cartouches. The face of the platter depicts in the foreground a handled urn placed on a pedestal amongst a large display of flowers, while in the distance a Gondola and buildings are seen.

Measures approximately 15.3 inches long by 13 inches wide. Heavy! In very good condition. There are some rough edges and noticeable crazing along the bottom of the platter, as to be expected with its age. There is one small chip along the outer edge on the left side, as pictured. Please see all photos.
