Circa 1880s, Victorian Era.
This scarce 1880s Lydia E. Pinkham’s vegetable tonic brass-tin plated tin bottle measures approximately 2.4 inches long by 1.55 inches wide (at widest points), and has a depth of approximatley 0.25 inch.
This very unusual bottle contained a vegetable laxative compound which was made by Lydia E. Pinkham (1819-1883). She was an early American herbalist from Lynn, MA who sometimes used Native American remedies for inspiration.
One side of bottle reads "LYDIA E. PINKHAM'S VEGETABLE COMPOUND HERB MEDICINE PILLS FOR CONSTIPATION SANATIVE WASH" with a floral border. Other side of bottle has the monogram "LEP".
In very good condition with no noticeable flaws. The bottle has very little evidence of wear. The screw top is in excellent working order. Please see all photos.
