Antique 1910s Luxor Bouquet Armour and Company Chicago USA Glass Powder Bottle Vanity RARE

Circa 1910s, Edwardian Era. Luxor logo still has its scimitar-like tail and still has Armour and Company listed on the bottle (see below).

The brand Luxor was created in 1910 by the Chicago-based Armour & Company, which originally started as a meat packing business, as a device to sell their animal by-products.

Armour & Company was an American company and was one of the five leading firms in the meat packing industry. It was founded in Chicago, in 1867, by the Armour brothers. By 1888, Armour had entered the soap business, producing a laundry bar called Armour family soap (later, they produced Dial!). In 1914, Armour’s Luxor cold cream was introduced and proved to be a popular product for the next thirty years. By the early 1920s, Armour’s Department of Soap and Toilet Requisites had been replaced by a new corporate entity known as Luxor Ltd – Perfumers. From 1923 there was a noticeable increase in advertising of Luxor products. In about 1931, The Luxor trademark was updated with the letter L losing its scimitar-like tail.
