Circa 1920s-1930s, Art Deco.
A Gilbert alarm clock mounted onto a piece of an old wooden shipping crate. Underside of base reads "Chas. F.C. Grower & Shipper, Orange Cove, CA". Very unique, one of a kind piece.
The Gilbert Clock Company was founded by William L. Gilbert in 1828 in Bristol, Connecticut, eventually moving to Winsted, Connecticut, where the company was officially established in its most recognizable form in 1871. The company was a major American clockmaker, known for producing affordable, high-quality timepieces like mantel and alarm clocks.
After facing financial troubles, it was acquired, merged with the Sessions Clock Company in 1964 to become Gilbert-Sessions, and eventually ceased all clock production.
Not in working/running condition, but would an excellent decor piece.
Measures approximately 9 inches long by 4.1 inches wide, and has a height of approximately 5.5 inches.
