Circa late 19th century, Victorian Era. No noticeable metal content or maker's marks. Acid tested as 14k gold, may be 18k gold as test shows (see photo), but is at least 14k gold.
Pietra dura is a technique utilizing meticulously cut and fitted colored stones to create images, popular in jewelry from the 19th century through the Victorian era.
Made of malachite and agate inlaid in onyx and mounted in a gold tone oval pin setting, with a ball dangle. Back of brooch is affixed with c-clasp, also indicative of the era. Pin extends beyond edge of brooch.
Measures approximately 1.3 inches long by 0.9 inch wide. Weighs approximately 4.93 grams.
