Antique lot of three cabinet card photographs found in a single estate on Long Island.
- Photograph of Two Men Front of card has studio’s info, “Atelier Elvira” (studio name) & “LINZ Altstadt 17” (address). Back of card is hand-signed “Linz Dairr 12/6 1905”. There is also some pencil writing, some of which is illegible, but I believe part of it says “Oktober 19”.
- Photograph of Man & Three Woman Front of card has studio’s info, “Kis-Pest” (city - Kispest, aka Little Pest, is in the district of Budapest, Hungary), “Szilágyi Gyula” (studio name - unable to translate), & “Petofi es Eggertut sarkán” (address - “On the corner of Petofi & Eggertut”). Back of card also has more studio info, including logo. “Kispest 1905 XII” is handwritten on the back of the card.
Each card measures approximately 6.5 inches long by 4.25 inches wide.

MORE HISTORY: The Hofatelier Elvira (also known as Atelier Elvira or Salon Elvira) was a photography studio in Munich founded by jurist and actress Anita Augspurg and friend photographer Sophia Goudstikker in 1887 and is notable as the first company founded by women in Germany. This studio became especially famous for their work in the feminist movement.
