Circa 1940s, Midcentury. Likely originating from Iran.
This striking vintage miniature painting, executed on genuine bone, depicts a dynamic battle scene in the traditional Mughal or Persian style. A line of mounted warriors charge into action with raised spears and swords, each figure finely detailed and full of movement. The backdrop features windswept trees and desert-like hills.
The mosaic inlaid frame is intricately detailed, showcasing incredible craftsmanship; even the sides are adorned with striking blue and green arrow motifs.
Frame measures approximately 7.55 inches long by 4.05 inches wide, and has a depth of approximately 0.4 inch. Affixed with an easel back for tabletop display.
